As with everything on the site, these could be subject to change as the story is still being written. However, at the moment I am confident everything listed here will be relevant to the final product.
Violence and Langauge
As an action-focused story and murder mystery, Scarred By Heaven will feature:
- Frequent and casual swearing.
- Moderate amounts of pixel art blood, and frequent references to blood in dialogue.
- Frequent physical violence, including use of knives, guns, and other weapons. Mostly depicted through the combat system with 'cartoonish' unrealism typical to pixel art-based action games, though some out-of-combat cutscenes depict fighting and injuries more realistically.
- Depictions of and references to death and dead bodies.
Sensitive Subjects
Scarred By Heaven explores some 'heavy' and potentially upsetting subjects as important aspects of the overall narrative. As part of this, the game will include:
- Depictions of child abuse.
- Depictions of transphobia.
- Depictions of homophobia.
- Depictions of ableism towards neurodivergent characters.
While the game is often comedic and outlandish, these subjects are all taken entirely seriously. Worth noting, though, is that the individual prevalence of each of these subjects will vary greatly between them, and may change as the story continues to be written.
Other
- Frequent depictions of alcohol, including multiple scenes taking place inside of a bar.
- Implied references to underaged drinking.
- Use of cigaretttes.
