While lacking a power of his own and not a fighter by any means, Gale is maybe the most knowledgeable on Jadewater's otherworldly mysteries out of anyone else, as well as something of an adoptive uncle to Livio.
Gale is a gentle and good-natured, if slightly eccentric man. He's very outgoing with strangers, naturally very helpful, and others often consider him to act somewhat youthful for his age. His longtime friend Lana thinks of him as naive.
He spends most of his free time as a jack-of-all-trades, constantly picking up and dropping different hobbies and interests. His most consistent hobby seems to be a general attraction towards learning about strange and obscure things, and finds it fun to regale others with the fruits of his research. He has a particular attraction to the paranormal, though always tries to maintain a healthy level of skepticism--as difficult as that now is, given his hometown's current predicament.
Almost a year prior to Saki's arrival in Jadewater, he happened to meet a homeless Livio at around the same time he had just acquired his 'Tattoo'. After giving him a place to stay, the two quickly became aware of the supernatural gift now in Livio's possession, as well as a strange portal to another world hidden in an alley close by Gale's apartment, and eventually the murders that seemed to be connected to it all.
Using his young friend as a research subject and his interests in the strange, Gale has managed to put together a few working theories as to what 'Tattoos' really are, though is still at a total loss as to the reason behind the issues plaguing Jadewater at large.
While not able to fight on the frontlines with Saki and co., he does his best to help them from the sidelines, both with his knowledge, and with much-needed morale support.
