Sakiko

Deeply Unlucky Protagonist
A stoic but standoffish young adult who rarely speaks unless spoken to.
Seems to have had some troubled teenage years as a delinquent, but having recently turned 18 and left home, now wants to take control of her life and live as honestly as she can.
While she's generally polite to anyone well-meaning, she seems to prefer keeping all interactions as blunt and productive as possible--to a degree others often find intimidating. Whether this asociality is a deliberate act of rebellion or just the nature of her personality is unclear, as she likes talking about herself least of all.
Behind her abrasive exterior, though, she does seem to have a strong moral compass. She's occasionally seen going out of her way to help strangers in need (albeit usually while chastising them), and has a tendency to fall down bizarre rabbit holes as a result of becoming involved in other peoples' problems.
Maybe getting dragged into the mystery of Jadewater is just the most extreme example of that?

Starstruck Sidekick
An upbeat but awkward high-schooler who often struggles to express himself correctly.
While always well-intentioned and deceptively intelligent, he seems to have struck a perfect ratio between overthinking and acting thoughtlessly that maximizes his clumsiness, and often missteps into trouble as a result.
It was one of these missteps that led to his meeting with Saki--with her intervening to protect him from a group of thugs he mistakenly angered. While she was unimpressed, Yuri was immensely grateful, and developed a strong but obviously one-sided respect for her.
However, when the pair eventually come to realize they both share the same otherworldly 'gift', they form a loose partnership and begin working together to discover the truth behind the murders plaguing Jadewater.
Yuri's sense of justice is able to overpower his nerves for the time being, but with little to no combat experience, he worries about how much he can contribute. Still, he's eagerly awaiting an opportunity to repay the debt he feels he owes Saki.

Lackadasical Lead Investigator
Having seemingly been one of the first in town to acquire his powers and discover the Otherworld, Livio is a leading expert on Jadewater's supernatural phenomena and the ongoing murders, for better or worse.
An extremely laid back and jokey personality who doesn't seem to take himself or anyone else very seriously. It tends to make him come across as either very likable or extremely irritating depending on the person he's talking to--with Saki regrettably falling into the latter category.
Beneath it all, however, he does seem to have a more serious, principled side. He began conducting his own investigations into the bizarre happenings of Jadewater months before Saki's arrival--though made little progress until she inadvertedly became his first big lead.
Unfortunately, shortly after their first meaning, a small misunderstanding forms between the two of them, and Saki is forced to learn that he's a much better fighter than he acts.

Charismatic Combat Hedonist
A free-spirited thrill-seeker who only acts based on what she finds fun. She appears entirely uninterested in the murder case, and seems to only view her power and the Otherworld it revealed to her as sources of entertainment.
With a reputation as a strong fighter, she commands respect among Jadewater's miscreants, and happens to be the leader of large local street gang named after herself, 'Parodia'. However, she doesn't seem to take the position very seriously, and usually just lets her underlings do whatever they want unsupervised. If anything, the gang is just an excuse for her to get into street brawls more often--something she treats like an extreme sport.
Despite her choice in career and hobby, she's surprisingly friendly and talkative, and most people who aren't turned off by her crude demeanor and potty mouth will find her to be fun, if rowdy, company. Although, it's very rare for her to stick around with any one person long enough for them to get to know her well.
In spite of the bizarre turn her life has taken lately, it seems like she's getting bored of Jadewater as a whole, and restless as a result. Though, she's been hearing rumors about someone new in town; some kind of gang-crushing vigilante with an unmistakable scar on her eye.
It's been a while since she's had a good sparring partner...
Iris

Mysterious Stray Spirit
An unsettling and extremely meek young person who seems to aimlessly wander the Otherworld.
They don't seem malicious, but Sakiko has reason to believe they know something about the murder case. Iris would really just prefer to be left alone, though...
The only thing certain about them are the large, bone-like spears that burst from their body and the ground at their command--a power significantly more terrifying and lethal than Sakiko and company are used to.
...Of course, someone kind-hearted wouldn't use a weapon like that unless absolutely necessary, though.
Lana

The One and Only
The weathered owner and sole employee of a small bar located in Jadewater's CBD, who gets roped into the town's mystery by chance after letting Saki rent a room in her house.
Lana has a cynical outlook on life and gives off an aura of exhaustion. She tends to be very blunt and sarcastic in casual conversation, and seems to do little to hide her true feelings or spare the emotions of others. It takes knowing her for a long time to be able to tell the difference between her 'serious' and 'joking' tones of voice.
Despite having very little in common with him by her own admission, she's a long-time friend of a Gale--and it's through Gale that she meets Saki. As Saki was in need of a place to stay, the two ended up working out an affordable arrangement for Saki to sleep in Lana's garage.
While both mostly prefer to keep their distance from the other in their shared living space, Lana enjoys occasionally hearing about Saki's supernatural exploits and investigation progress, treating it almost like gossip. In exchange, she's sometimes willing to share unsolicited life advice with Saki, gained through 43 years of experience.
Her bleakness usually makes Saki uncomfortable.

Sweet Supernatural Scholar
A gentle and good-natured, if slightly eccentric man. He's very outgoing with strangers, naturally very helpful, and often gives others the impression of being either much younger or much older than he actually is. His longtime friend Lana thinks he's just really naive, though.
He spends most of his free time as a jack-of-all-trades, constantly picking up and dropping different hobbies and interests. His most consistent hobby seems to be a general attraction towards learning about strange and obscure things, and finds it fun to regale others with the fruits of his research.
He has a particular attraction to the paranormal, though tries to maintain a healthy level of skepticism--as difficult as that now is, given his hometown's current predicament.
While not able to fight on the frontlines with Saki and co., he does his best to help them from the sidelines, both with his knowledge, and with much-needed morale support.

Self-appointed Royalty
Leon is a hot-headed punk with ambitions to make a name for himself as a powerful gang leader, though his grasp on what that entails seems juvenile. While he currently has only two followers, he seems confident that it's only a matter of time until the city learns who 'the king' really is.
Surprisingly, his ego may be somewhat justified, as he secretly wields an otherworldly power--connected to a unique scar on his chest. While he doesn't know how or why he obtained it, he's happy to use it as a scare tactic against anyone who gets on his nerves.
Saki ends up becoming one of these scare victims after getting in a fight with him. However, Leon's attempt to 'teach her a lesson' backfires severely, as he notices a familiar-looking scar forming over Saki's right eye...
