2023/2024 Dream Diary...

- 14/11/2024 -

I got caught jaywalking and had to do six months of military service.

As part of my service I was assigned to paint something red, and I had to make my own red paint by boiling water with red food dye in it, but I accidentally put spaghetti in the water and had to restart when I realized.

Once I woke up, it took me around 5 minutes to realize I hadn't actually been indicted for jaywalking.

I woke up and fell asleep multiple times.

- I had to return to my elementary school for some reason, and found that it had been massively upheaved to make way for a roller coaster that served as a public transport system spanning the whole schoolground. There was some kind of train station to board it that I entered, and eventually became physically unable to leave due to an invisible forcefield blocking me inside.

- There was a purple, glowing dung beetle-like creature in my bedroom that I got into a fight with. I tried to attack it several times, but its dung ball was large and incredibly strong and protected it.

I was on vacation at some type of bull farm. My cabin at the bull farm was mostly just my house in real life but with way more sofas and larger beds.

They gave me one of those giant dog bite suits to wear while dealing with the bulls, and I thought it was so comfortable that I slept in it.

I do remember actually seeing one of those suits in a video a few months back and thinking it looked comfortable, so the dream may have been a delayed manifestation of that desire.

I was keeping some slimes from the game 'Slime Rancher' in my backyard as pets, and was in the process of setting up a series of fence hallways to keep them in. My main concern was that my children would try to eat them and get sick (though I don't have any children in real life.)

I woke up and fell asleep multiple times.

- I was part of some experiment to measure the speed of tennis balls with and without the net? I was playing against a few of my friends, and the court was a bed with a net in the middle of it, placed in the middle of a desert, which later turned into a classroom. I kept fumbling my serves because the surface of the bed was really hard to play on.

- I was trying to join some type of talent show? The audition process was going into a public bathroom stall and closing the door while the person assessing you stood outside of it and listened to whatever your talent was. I realized while going in that I didn't actually have a talent that I could show off, and ended up standing in front of the bathroom sinks trying to think of jokes that I could use to justify "writing" as my talent. I ended up leaving the bathroom, which led to the next part...

- The bathroom turned out to be located in a nearby mall I know from real life, and while walking through it I happened to see a small doorway between stores that I never had before, with a neon sign that said "NIGHT CARNIVAL OPEN!" above it. I went through it, and it seemed to lead into a gigantic interior that seemed to combine several grocery stores. Looking around though I eventually found a way outside, and saw a building in the distance with another large NIGHT CARNIVAL sign on it. I realized at this point that the Night Carnival was somewhere I had been before and was very familiar with--some type of large community market with tons of stores, with a brown, tiled interior I can easily recall. I didn't go inside, but it may be somewhere I've dreamed about in the past.

I was in some type of rundown underground settlement? It sort of had the layout of a bunker, the whole place had a sickly yellow-green color to it and all the walls were made of decaying wood. I was in some type of market roaming around aimlessly, apparently wounded in some way, and complaining about it under my breath constantly in a voice that wasn't mine. I eventually managed to catch a look at myself in a mirror and saw I was not myself and instead a very messed up burned and bandaged walking corpse--I think inspired by Curly from 'Mouthwashing'? I think it was a result of hearing my friends talk about the game earlier that day. In the dream I kind of brushed this off though and was just glad I could still walk.

I think this dream made me realize that trying to play a video games in my dreams almost always functions as a portal that transfers me into the imaginary game itself.

I was trying to play some sort of underwater ocean game with some friends (similar to something like Subnautica), and once I started playing it my perspective shifted to being inside the game world, and from there on I treated everything in it as if it was normal and my real life.

We were swimming around some sort of large underwater cave with something about it that seemed inherently strange, though I can't recall what. A few of my friends were 'playing as' sea animals such as dolphins, but could still talk normally. There was someone behind prison bars who was asking us for something, but someone else came along and ended up giving them a collection of glassy, orange, glowing balls, which you could look closely inside to watch movie Finding Nemo.

Eventually, we found out the reason for the strange environment was a new giant species of fish that had been motionlessly blending into the environment until we disturbed it. It resembled a cross between an anglerfish and a sarcastic fringehead. It looked something like this:

It's mouth was constantly open except when it was eating something, at which point it would snap shut suddenly as if it was spring-loaded.

We were all very excited about discovering a new species. Despite having pretty big thalassophobia in real life and watching it eat one of my friends, I wasn't very scared of it because I think some video game logic still applied. I knew my friend would respawn, and every time I felt threatened by it I could just pause the game and move away from it.

Funnily, I would still definitely have been significantly more scared if it was an actual video game I was playing in real life.

I was playing an old Spongebob game on the original Xbox, which had a promotional link to a Facebook page that teased a cancelled(?) sequel to the Spongebob TV show about a new, marijauna-themed sponge character whom Spongebob sacrificed his life to give birth to. The page included details bragging about how much weed the new sponge smoked. Even in the dream I had trouble comprehending how it was official.

I was in a place supposed to be Paris? It was full of a lot of red bricked buildings, and seemed to be layered in such a way that there were streets below the streets that you could access via a staircase going down. I remember the area smelling strange.

I ended up walking along some type of suburban highway with houses to my right side. I passed by two cats that seemed friendly, and tried to pat one, only for it to bite my arm. My jacket was thick enough to protect me from being hurt, but it left four large fang holes where it had bitten me.

I ended up in some kind of supermarket after that, and it contained a variety of small merchant stalls, one of which was entirely dedicated to the The Smurfs, with Smurfs movies playing on TVs and selling Smurf merchandice.

I was at a friend's house in their living room with a large projector on the wall, sorting through the belongings of a deceased mutual relative of ours (who doesn't actually exist).

The projector was playing a youtube video that was a very long compilation of The Beatles playing Let It Be on a ton of different instruments, one of which was a theremin. This caused my friend to leave the room and come back with their own theremin, that resembled a midi pad controller and glowed like it was covered in glowsticks. They started playing it perfectly, and did a trick where they pulled out a yoyo and started spinning it over the theremin, causing it to start playing a really awesome dance club beat.

I remember my reaction to seeing them play the theremin was something like "Dude, think about this. Isn't this insane? How do you explain the existence of a device like this if our world is not magical? Life is so amazing."

A night of multiple very long dreams.

1. I and several friends created a Minecraft server, which seemed to alternate between being a video game I was playing, and an actual location we were at in real life. It was on a completely flat world and we were trying to build our own civilization on it? But at one point it started raining, and continued to rain for years on end. Eventually our society stopped recognizing the concept of rain because rain was just the default state, leaving us all confused when it finally stopped raining.

2. I arrived at a hotel in a coastal town, which might be a location I've visited in my dreams before. I entered my room, and it was apparently one I'd stayed in before. It had wooden walls, and was broken into three segments, with a lower section with three sleeping bags in the middle of it, and elevated sections with TVs and bunk beds to the left and right. It had a load of decorative weapon props and posters and things on the walls that I think were all meant to be from different anime series, but I didn't recognize them, and I assumed they had been left there by a previous visitor. I ended up watching TV while in this room, which essentially transitioned into another dream.

3. The show I watched on the TV was an animated sitcom that I saw almost a complete episode of. It was about two authors writing two different kinds of books. One was a cricket player who lost a game and coped with it by becoming a heel personality? He started writing books about how he was better than other players. The first was called 'I Killed The Marksman' and it was successful so he decided to 'milk' his success by writing a sequel called 'I Broke The Marksman'. There was a montage covering large portions of their lives with time skips between. The cricket player got married and there was a joke where she became a woman between time skips without it being acknowledged at all.

A brief but somewhat lucid dream in which I was in a fantasy setting as some type of sorcerer? I was exploring a very green dungeon. The whole dream had Playstation 2-esque graphics.

I was in some kind of big hall full of tables and chairs for some kind of high school excursion? I was trying to find somewhere to sit and ended up having to sit on a row of sofas at the very back, which included one sofa known as "The Devil's Sofa".

I got sent a warning about The Devil's Sofa on my phone, which included a photo where it was actually a bed. It looked something like this:

In person, it looked like a sofa with a similar design. The person sitting next to me was really uncomfortable with sitting on it, worried that it might be cursed somehow.

Eventually the room went dark and we began to watch a movie on a large projector. It started with a ragged, bearded man drinking alcohol and saying the line "Like everyone with the name Donald, I was born to challenge the world's naming conventions." That's all I remember.

A long, confusing dream with many arcs I don't remember. The only consistent thread was that I was constantly eating chocolate bars that looked like this:

I think at the end of the dream, I was on a date with someone I didn't recognize, and only stopped eating them because my dog stole one out of my hand and I had to fight it to get the bar out of its mouth.

The dream was entirely unrelated to me and was instead just an episode of a sitcom, shot from a third person perspective with multiple camera angles.

The scene I remember was of the main character at a mcdonald's, deciding to heroically chase after someone who had stolen a bag of someone else's food and ran out of the store. After proudly proclaiming his intent to save the day and following them, there was a jumpcut to him and the bag covered in blood as he returned it to the owner, while he off-handedly explained that the culprit "y'know, got into a swingset accident". I think the implied joke was that he ran the culprit over in his car.

I think the show was meant to be Always Sunny in Philadelphia? Which, again, is a show I've never watched.

I was lying on the floor with my dog, and reached a hand out to pat it's head, only for my hand to phase through it as if it wasn't there. This caused me to immediately wake up, with my hand outstretched in real life as it was in the dream.

I was inside of a playplace-esque plastic tube with a stack of gym mats. One had a lenticular printed transgender flag on it, and I considered it to be the most comfortable mattress I'd ever used.

Another night of multiple long dreams.

- I was at work and having to sort through a load of cardboard boxes full of garbage. I decided to start by writing "A.S.P." on some with a marker, standing for 'Always Sunny in Philadelphia'. It wasn't relevant to anything in the dream and I've never watched that show.

- It was night time and I was on the street outside my of house with some friends. Huge purple shock waves of light suddenly started ripping through the middle of the street, coming periodically every few minutes. I eventually realized that to be safe, we'd need to travel down to a house at the end of the street and get inside. I almost got hit by one of the shockwaves doing this, and realized we were in some kind of apocalypse on the way there.

When I got inside the house, however, I realized that that the actual reason it was happening was because I was inside of an episode of Family Guy. The dream ended with the Family Guy credits rolling. I haven't seen or thought about anything Family Guy related lately, so I have no idea why I've dreamed about it two nights in a row. I'd really like it to stop.

I woke up and fell asleep multiple times, leading to multiple long dreams. Of the ones I remember:

- I was at my grandmother's house going through some of her belongings, and found a pile of old school homework with a name I didn't recognise on it, something to the effect of 'Tom Tomson'. For some reason, the longer it sat around, the more of a strange green ink would seep from the top of it. I think it was coming from a map of a school at the bottom of the pile. I also found an old magazine advertising a Nintendo DS game about Ben 10 and clowns.

- I was watching someone (Jerma985?) playing a The Sims game. Their sim died after it suddenly got struck with a barrage of tiny meteors, and was immediately and forcefully replaced by the dog from Family Guy.

Another long dream with many different threads. The two I remember were:

- I came home to find that my sibling had invited one of their friends to hang out inside my bedroom, and that they had filled my bed with crumbs and sunflower seeds.

- I was creating a new section of this website, meant for 'girls only'. I tried to use Ctrl+F to find and replace a certain word in the site code, but ended up accidentally replacing it on the entirety of the internet instead, causing typos on every website. I think it changed "Google.com" to "Goggle.com".

I was back in high school, and I had a new class that would both vaccinate you against diseases, and train you on escaping 'Saw'-style traps. The first lesson required we get our legs stuck inside real bear traps, and the first student to volunteer (and the only other one in the class) obviously ended up being in a lot of pain after stepping in a bear trap, so I decided to leave before I had to do that as well. The class was also taking place inside my shower.

I was considered to be 'the banjo guy' among my friend group, to my confusion. One person said 'Yeah I don't know why, but every time I hear a banjo I think of Topaz'.

A half-awake dream where I spent a strangely long period of time attempting to get out of bed, but not being able to, because whenever I tried I could only stand up inside of the dream. Whenever I realized I had only stood up in the dream and not in real life, I would be instantly teleported back to lying in bed.

I think I was someone other than myself, who was trying to create a Disco Elysium musical. It's very rare for me not to be the 'protagonist' of my own dream, which made this one interesting.

I was playing Baldur's Gate 3 and it was nothing like the actual game (because I haven't actually played Baldur's Gate 3), and I tried to fast travel and ended up fast traveling in real life instead. I ended up in a strange place, that was like a thin pathway carved into a rocky cliffside by the ocean, where the waves were really intense and kept splashing up and almost knocking me off. I eventually reached a cave in the cliff, that contained a large, dingy locker room/sewer combination area. It was empty and very steamy.

I was playing/inside of a new Resident Evil game(?) where me and a woman I didn't recognize were confronting an antagonist on a balcony. He was an old man with glasses who looked kind of like the one from RE7, but half of his face was moldy in the way that an orange gets moldy, with a powdery pale green texture on one side. This dream presumably happened because in real life two weeks ago I spent half of a shift at work sorting through and discarding about 50 kilograms worth of moldy oranges.

They overhauled YouTube's layout and part of it was that they made your subscription feed sort from oldest to newest, so I had to start scrolling from 2009 every time I wanted to see anything new. I think I also played a game that a friend recommended to me, that was about being a little fish who had to eat berries and other morsels of food to not die and grow strong.

I was supposed to be going to a water park with a friend, but wasn't sure if I wanted to because my back was hurt. I eventually decided to because I think there was going to be an attraction there that would let the two of us fight each other in hand-to-hand combat. I think I spent the entire rest of the dream after that trying desprately to get ready to leave while someone was outside impatiently waiting for me.

An incredibly long dream with many different nonsensical plot threads:

- I was at my work at around 8 in the morning and everyone had to leave and stand outside and wait for it to be 9 in the morning so that we could go back inside.

- I time traveled back to Japan in the 1970s(?) and witnessed a murder, and I was wondering if I should tell anyone about it before eventually deciding against it, out of fear that I might drastically change the future. Later, I was hanging out with another person who witnessed the murder and I think I had to fight the ghost of the murderer who had turned into a demon.

- I went on a walk in the forest to go to the beach.

- I was at my elementary school with a friend who was accused of having beaten someone up by cheating in a way that somehow related to shaping the victim's magic in a way that could somehow be inferred from the formation of clouds in the sky? I don't think it even made sense in the dream itself.

I think I had a dream where I was sharing a dorm or something with a friend, and I was trying to persuade them into playing this really complicated 30 year old The Simpsons board game with a bizarre contraption made of a ton of colored wires and connectors that I had to set up before hand.

I was attending a celebration of some sort, possibly someone's birthday or graduation, and had to give a speech. For some reason, they gave me some kind of PDA that had around 8 buttons on it that each played a sound file of a specific word in text-to-speech, and I was supposed to give the speech by pressing them in a specific order rather than actually talking. I had no idea why they wanted me to do it that way, but while giving the speech I think I decided that it would be funny if I pretended that my mic was broken. It also had functionality for two people to use it at once, where if you pressed a button a second 8 number keypad would pop out.

I was playing Tekken 1 on PC and was desperately trying to screenshot the game because I found a secret playable character called Ant, who was a giant ant, but I kept failing to because the screenshot menu kept closing whenever I got hit in the game.

I think there was some type of celestial anomaly occurring in the atmosphere outside of earth that I was looking into, and from a phone call with someone I learned that it was somehow directly related to me.

Later on, I was trying to use Discord and talk to a group chat, but realised that my boss (from my job in real life) was sending me German flag emojis, which I knew meant they wanted me to call them, report my findings and tell them if I could work.

When I did they asked me about the space anomaly, and I think I told them something like “It is showing energy readings that are perfectly in line with Gohan, but I have yet to experience any of these effects myself”. They got very somber and serious and told me to call them back after they’d verified some things.

I had a dream that I think I became an emergency services ambulance worker, and when I on my first call I put on my uniform and realized my hat was too big, so I spent half an hour going through my closet looking for a hat that fit while my coworkers had to wait around wanting me to hurry up, since these matters are usually time sensitive.

I bought a Dark Souls 2 PS2 Steelbook Special Edition and it came with a cloth wall tapestry advertising two fake-looking 3DS games called "Luigi's Mansion 4" and "Super Mario's DEATH". (I don't know why Dark Souls 2 keeps appearing in my dreams.)

I discovered a real life 'money duplicating glitch' where you put cash inside of an ice cream container and left it in the fridge for a while and when you took it out it, it would be double what you put in.

I think the problem I had in the dream though was when I put all of my money into it, I accidentally ended up forgetting and throwing the empty ice cream container full of money out, so I had to sift through a strange recycling machine at my work to find it again.

All I could do is move around and try to find my phone to use as a flashlight, which never happened. It felt like it went on for hours.

I was trying to leave work and go home, but my place of work had merged with my house. There were a lot of people all coming into my house for no reason and I had to make them all leave.
